FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

JOHNSON AUTO BODY

Q: Should I have my car repaired at the same place it was purchased?  Does my dealer know more about fixing my car than other repair facilities?

3/13/2017

A: Your dealer may not be your best choice for collision repair.  Most car dealers do not have auto body shops and many of the highest-quality collision repairers are not affiliated with dealers.  Your dealer generally has no unique edge in terms of technology, techniques when it comes to repairing your vehicle after a collision.  Rather than automatically returning to your dealer for collision repairs, we encourage you to ask your friends, neighbors, and relatives about the experiences they have had with a collision repair facility.  After that you will know that Johnson Auto Body is the best choice for you!

Q: Can I request Original Equipment parts (OEM)?

3/13/2017

A: You can ask.  Most insurance companies will allow OEM parts for the first year or two.  However, as cars get older, most insurance companies require used parts as the first option, aftermarket parts as the second option and OEM parts as the third option.  Read your insurance policy declaration page or contact your insurance representative for more information.  If Johnson Auto Body is your repair shop choice we will inspect the parts before they are installed on your vehicle.  We will not accept sub-standard parts because our reputation is important to us.  We know that a sub standard repair is going to come back and bite you and ultimately us.  Happy customers bring us referrals. Unhappy customers will not!

Q: How do I know if the vehicle is not legally drivable?

3/13/2017

A: If there is one or more of the following factors it will be considered not drivable.  (1) If the wheels will not turn or steer (2) if the headlights, signal lights, taillights are broken (3) If fluids are leaking (4) If the trunk will not seal tightly, allowing harmful exhaust gases to enter (5) if for any other reason that you do not feel safe do not drive it.  Trust your instinct when it comes to making a decision to drive it or not.  When in doubt, call a tow truck and have it brought to Johnson Auto Body or if not possible have it towed to a temporarily location - "Better safe than sorry" - We will pick it up the next business day!
